MEET OUR STAFF

JOHN D. BORZILLO, DVM.

C.O.O

Dr. John Borzillo was born and raised in Hermann, Missouri; a small agricultural community 65 miles West of St. Louis. Despite being home to only a few dairy farms, John developed a strong interest in the dairy industry at an early age. In 2009, John graduated from The University of Missouri-Columbia as a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine and immediately moved with his family to “America’s Dairyland”.

John’s education focused primarily on herd-level medicine and management. These interests allowed him to travel the U.S. and participate in multiple dairy-specific internships, including becoming a graduate of the 2008 Summer Dairy Institute at Cornell University.

John is currently serves the dairy farms of Clark, Jackson and Wood counties. His professional interests include general herd health, medicine and surgery, training of on-farm staff members as well as residue compliance. John would tell you that, “dairy medicine is more than a job or single task; rather a cog in the complex mechanism necessary to produce a high volume of high quality milk,” and does his best to approach every day with that basic philosophy.

Outside of work, John is happily married to his wife Emily and has two daughters. He and his family are involved in their local church and enjoy spending time with friends and family. The Borzillo’s also enjoy many of the outdoor activities Wisconsin has to offer including mountain biking, hiking, fishing, hunting, skiing, and snow shoeing.

DAVE HAMMAN, DVM

Veterinarian

Dr. David Hamman grew up on a farm in Carthage, Illinois where he became interested in veterinary medicine after the local vet performed necropsies on two of his older brother’s fair steers (the older brother was less impressed...). This interest led down a winding path that included behavior and nutrition research at a zoo, wildlife toxicology in Michigan, and beef cattle in Tanzania before working with dairy cattle in veterinary school at Michigan State University.

In school Dave developed a strong interest in milk quality and mastitis management, and has pursued this interest continuously since graduating and moving to Wisconsin. He gets a great deal of satisfaction from helping dairy producers identify opportunities for growth and improved efficiency while improving the lives of their cattle at the same time.

Dave currently lives with his wife Mary and two sons Zach and Nate in rural Blair, Wisconsin. They enjoy a lot of the outdoor activities that Wisconsin has to offer, as well as domestic and international travel.

ANDREW MARTIN, DVM

Veterinarian

Dr. Andrew “Marty” Martin was born and raised in the suburbs of Chicago, but don’t hold that against him. His initial exposure to animal agriculture was as an undergrad while pursuing an animal science degree at the University of Illinois. He enjoyed it so much, that he continued his veterinary training in production medicine.

While in veterinary school, Andrew traveled both nationally and internationally to gauge the dairy industry. This included traveling to dairies in Idaho, Washington, Indiana, British Columbia, Italy, Switzerland, Honduras, Mongolia and of course Wisconsin. He is very excited to incorporate the concepts he has learned over the past four years to clients in the central Wisconsin area. His professional interests include employee training, animal welfare and bovine medicine/surgery.

Outside of work, Andrew loves to be in the outdoors; hiking, camping, boating and downhill skiing are some of his favorites. He also enjoys traveling to do mission work with Christian Veterinary Missions. His most recent trip was to Mongolia, where he taught, but also learned from the herdsman about parasite control and intensive pasture grazing. Outside of his hobbies and work, his family, church, and friends, keep his life pretty busy.

Overall, he is excited to start a career in central Wisconsin and he looks forward to forming long lasting relationships with the clients in the area.
